Ways To Prevent Excessive Sweating
Many people around the world have experienced the discomfort caused by the problem of excessive sweating. Such a condition often causes many people to suffer both in their personal and professional life.
Both men and women face this issue and dealing with it can become quite difficult in the long run. The condition of excessive sweating is known as Hyperhidrosis. People who have it often are put into situations where they must avoid wearing things of comfort or be looked down upon because of the large stains under their arms.
One of the easiest ways to prevent excessive sweating is to use antiperspirants. They eliminate bacterial growth and thus prevent body odor along with sweat. Take a bath at least once a day to get rid of the dried sweat. Spray an antiperspirant right after you bathe. Avoid wearing tight synthetic clothes and replace them with loose ones that are made from natural fibers like cotton.
Excessive sweating is usually observed in obese people. Try losing weight by eating carefully and exercising. If one has sweaty feet, try wearing socks every time you put on shoes so as not to get smelly shoes. Give your shoes some sun exposure and dry them out completely before wearing them again. Don’t wear the same shoes everyday. Try wearing airy footwear, such as sandals and crocs, etc.
One can also have bursts of sweat if they are stressed or highly anxious. Opt for relaxing practices like Yoga, meditation, seek therapy and recreational activities every now and then.
But if your condition is serious and the above-mentioned ways to prevent excessive sweating are not helpful, you can consider medical treatments. Botox injections, electrical therapy and also surgery are available if the sweating gets severe. Botox can be used to treat underarm sweating by injecting a serum, which numbs the hyperactive sweat glands and nerves which trigger it.
Electric therapy, on the other hand, uses water to give a slight electric current to the skin, which reduces the sweating. It is done for 10-20 minutes in one sitting, with a frequency of 2-3 times per week. Surgery is the last resort. It includes cutting out the nerves in the chest that trigger the sweat glands too much.
