Turmeric for Treating Acne
There are many ingredients available in every kitchen that help fight acne. One such ingredient is the kitchen turmeric. We are all aware of the medicinal properties that this amazing spice has to offer.
It can be applied on wounds for immediate healing, taken with milk during severe cough and cold and even used to fight acne and clear the skin giving a glowing complexion.
Turmeric is antiseptic and antibacterial in nature. Because of these two properties it is an excellent remedy for mild to severe acne. And you don’t even need to consult a doctor before beginning a course in turmeric anti-acne treatment since the spice has no side effects.Here are a few simple face mask recipes using turmeric that help deal with acne problems effectively.
In a dry clean bowl take a pinch of turmeric and one tablespoon of gram flour. Add a little water to bind the two in paste form. Apply this paste on your face, neck and any other acne prone areas. Keep for 15 minutes or till the paste dries. Now wet your hands and begin removing the paste by rubbing the area in circular motion.
This will help remove the paste gently while also give the skin much needed exfoliation. Wash with warm water and dry. You will see the difference in your acne after only two applications. People with oily skin can use lemon juice instead of water and those with dry skin can use milk to form the paste.
Mix two tablespoons of sandalwood powder and a pinch of turmeric in a bowl. To this add olive oil to form a paste. Wash your face and after drying apply the paste. Keep the paste on for a night and wash off with lukewarm water in the morning. Sandalwood has cooling properties and will help reduce the swelling and redness caused by acne.
Turmeric will fight the acne causing bacteria and olive oil will avoid your skin from getting dry, keeping it soft and supple. Use this paste for a period of two months to cure acne completely. Do not use more than a pinch of turmeric in one time paste or the color of your face will turn yellow.
