For those who do not know about psoriasis, then this article will be useful for them. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that several people suffer from all through their lives.

The human body produces new skin when it functions normally. The skin cells that are present in the surface of the body do die off after every thirty days and it sheds itself from the body. During this process the new cells are formed beneath the surface of the skin.

These new cells gradually rise to the surface level in that thirty day time period. These skin cells arrive on time such that they will replace the skin that has been shed or getting ready to shed.

When the body starts to push the new skin cells to the surface more rapidly than their normal duration, then they pile up. The new skin cells instead of taking the normal period of thirty days to reach the surface they reach much earlier.

The existing skin cells at the surface do not shed themselves so quickly and they try to take their own time to shed off. This will pile up the skin cells and this forms thick, dry and white flaky areas in the skin known as psoriasis.

There are various factors that will cause the individual to develop psoriasis. Even though psoriasis is not contagious, you will probably look for a way to cure the disease. Certain people have severe cases of psoriasis and this makes them quite uncomfortable.

Herbal medicines will reduce the severity of psoriasis. The alternative remedy to treat psoriasis is to treat the internal problems in your body. By applying herbs you can reduce the itching and at the same time reduce the growth of psoriasis.

Many people across the world have this question in mind as to whether psoriasis is contagious and the answer to this question is no. It is estimated that about four to seven million Americans get affected by psoriasis every year. It is a disease which is due to the body’s immune system.

When an individual is affected due to psoriasis the immune system in the body will react with some certain trigger. The common trigger points that are seen are severe illness or could be infection like sour throat. To conclude, psoriasis is a severe skin problem that affects people and it is not contagious.
