Nude Make-Up

Make up is getting minimal. Overdone make-up with gaudy and dark shades of different products like eye lashes, eyeliners, or lip gloss etc.  is not ‘in’ thing anymore. Modern makeup aims at highlighting what you already have and infinite layering making you look a complete fake.

A more subtle look which gives an impression of no make-up used is the ‘it’ thing; it can hence be called transparent make-up, that gives the onlookers a glimpse of your actual skin. For taking up this look, it is important that you take care of your skin and strike a balance between skin care and dusting on make-up to achieve that translucent look.

For lips, too dark a shade in comparison to your skin tone makes the fine lines around the mouth more prominent. For the right shade you should choose a color a tone or two darker than your lips.

A lip liner is used to define your lips, so the color of the liner should be according to your lips and not your lipstick. Go for invisible liners which will hold your lipstick and yet would not look patchy if your lipstick fades away. Nudes, rosy beiges work on almost all skin tones.

While applying eye shadow blending it well is very important. Do not overdo with it as eye shadow draws attention to your make-up more than to your face. For fair complexioned girls, pinks or shimmering taupe or rose an be used and for the not-so-fair ones, colors that compliment your skin tone, earthy shades like emerald greens, plums and shimmering browns work well.

While applying mascara, make sure do not wear too much of it. Heavy eyelashes shadow over the eyes, accentuating dark circles. The eyelashes should not look thick so use the lengthening formula and avoid clumps. Do not brush mascara on your lashes more than twice for the upper and once for the lower ones.

If you use eye-liner, keep in mind that for the nude look, broad lined liner does not work. Also heavy liner makes your eyes look small. A well defined, fine and clean liner looks subtle and just right. For your cheeks, a right shade of blush is very important or else you might end up looking more of a clown with extra rosy cheeks.

For the natural look and not an obviously-blushed-cheeks look, you should choose the color that your cheeks actually turn after pinching them. A creamy textured blush is best to use as it merges well and has sheen. Apply it on the apple of your cheek and not on the cheek bone stripe.

For shimmers, cream based shimmers should be used and not applied on your entire face, making you look more like the disco ball. Just dab a small quantity on certain areas that will enhance your actual features, like beneath your eyebrow bone, or on the edge of the cheek bone or may be on the inner or outer corners of your eyes.

So remember less is more and do not overdo your make-up, especially during day time. A natural glow given by nude make-up is far better than the pan-cake look that is given by that flashy and chunky make-up. Less make-up will also let your skin breathe properly and not harm it.
