Acne is a skin condition that can affect many people around the globe and is also termed as acne vulgaris; It can affect your face and other parts of your body, such as your upper arms, chest, back and neck. It generally affects people in adolescence and continues as adult acne. Acne can be a very embarrassing condition for people who are suffering from it.

It results in low self-confidence and anxiety. Sensitive skin is more prone to acne, hence it requires more attention. As compared to people with normal skin, sensitive skin is prone to high levels of inflammation. Therefore no matter which product you use, like soaps and cleansers, the sensitive skin reacts to them. There are many options that are natural and holistic and can be used for sensitive skin; they are discussed below.

Avoid make up

For sensitive skin, use little or no makeup because sensitive skin can overreact due to the harsh chemicals present in the makeup products. The harsh chemicals can aggravate the condition of an acne-prone sensitive skin. Make up also clogs the pores of the skin; the result is that bacteria infect the sebaceous glands, resulting in acne. Also do not use make up which has alcohol in it; this can make your skin dry up.

Cleaning the affected area

It’s very important to clean the affected area ritually. This is because dirt and grime can settle on the affected areas. This can cause the blocking off the pores of the skin, as well as the sebaceous glands. Use a very mild and gentle soap or cleanser to clean the infected areas. As discussed earlier, avoid products with very harsh chemicals and high alcohol content. Use natural products as well, but make sure that you are not allergic to them. Aloe vera is an effective natural concoction that can help in soothing your sensitive skin.

Do not over wash

Do not over wash your skin; refrain from washing your skin many times a day. This is because washing many times can deprive your skin of its essential oils. These essential oils are important for maintaining the health of the skin. Therefore wash your skin only two to three times a day, and pat your skin dry, do not rub it. Rubbing can cause inflammation of the sensitive skin.

Using mild cleansers

It’s essential to use mild and natural cleansers for your skin. Strong chemicals in the cleansers you use can cause your skin to flare up. Consult your doctor for advice for the kind of natural cleansers to use.

Using acne products

There are numerous products available to treat various skin types. They can be specific for dry skin, oily skin and even sensitive skin. Therefore you can obtain many products on the market for sensitive skin. Before using any product on your sensitive skin, do a patch test. Apply a small amount of any specific product on your wrist. Watch out for any burning, reddening or itching sensation. If you come across any symptoms, this means the product does not suit your skin type. If you want an effective skincare product, you can also consult your doctor for the same. Do not buy any product not meant for your skin type. This is because sensitive skin is very delicate and by using just anything, you’re putting it at risk.

Follow a healthy diet and drink a lot of water

A product that keeps you hydrated helps in removing all the toxins from your body. A healthy diet of fruit and vegetables can be beneficial for your skin’s condition as well. This is because it has anti-oxidising properties that help in fighting free radicals. These free radicals can harm your skin in the long run.
