Whether it’s from our grannies or experienced aunts or magazines, you’ll find tones of people complaining about skin problems and loads of experienced replies accompanying it. Beauty tips are so easily given out and the moment we find someone going through the same trouble as we, we dedicate ourselves completely to the reply.

We all should follow the basic skin care regime of – cleansing, scrubbing, toning and moisturizing. The products we use and the frequency of the regime depends on the skin type. To know what your skin type is, just wash your face with a good face wash before bed and wipe it with a soft tissue in the morning.

If the tissue comes out dry, but your face looks flaky and dry and feels tight. You have Dry skin. The pores on dry skin are nearly invisible and they almost never break out. But you have to constantly moisturize it. Its advised to use a good moisturizer with naturally nourishing agents like Vitamin A,C, D ,E. Use cosmetics that are alcohol free, they refresh your skin gently without causing irritation.

If the tissue has spots of facial oil on it from your forehead, cheeks and nose, you have Oily Skin. Oily skin needs to be taken special care. Acne, open pores, black heads to name a few. Also the skin looks greasy and shiny most of the time. The good thing is that oily skin is not prone to aging and wrinkles. A regular regime of cleansing, scrubbing, toning is very necessary to prevent clogging of pores.

If the oil spots on tissue only come from the forehead and the T-zone then you have a Combination Skin. In this skin type you have to use good moisturizer on the dry zones only and follow a cleansing routine for the oily areas.

If your tissue doesn’t show any traces of oil in it and your skin feels soft and supple, then you are one of those lucky ones with a Normal Skin. It’s the least problematic skin type. Even with minimum care you will have a youthful and supple skin however old you get.

Identifying the last skin type does not require a test. This is a Sensitive Skin. Highly problematic skin type that needs constant care. They are very prone to break outs, open pores and allergies. You may need to consult your dermatologist and specially recommended products.
