Our skin is made of elastic fibers that contain elastin and collagen. The appearance of smooth and young skin is due to the presence of elastin and collagen.

However, external factors such as exposure to harmful UV rays from the sun, bad dietary habits and improper skin care regime pulls the elastic fibers taut. This stretching results in wrinkles on the skin. No woman likes the thought of having wrinkles. But the occurrence of wrinkles can be controlled with proper diet and care.

Exposure to harsh rays of the sun is a major factor for skin damage and appearance of wrinkles. You must always wear s string sun screen 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. if you are going to be working in the sun for long then re-apply the sunscreen after every two hours. Wear long sleeved shirts and a long-brimmed hat to minimize sun exposure.

Sleep on your back. Yes, your sleeping position can also give you wrinkles. It has been observed that people who sleep on their sides tend to develop wrinkles on their cheeks and chin early on in life. People who sleep face down are at a risk of having wrinkles in the form of furrowed brow on their forehead. Hence the best position to sleep in is on your back.

Quit smoking. Nicotine present in tobacco does not let the blood capillaries carry out their function properly. As a result the skin receives less amount of blood which restricts the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.

These are very important as they provide nourishment to the tissues helping them remain healthy. Also, the chemicals present in tobacco cause damage to elastin and collagen. It is impossible to reverse the damage done by smoking to your skin. However, quitting smoking will help stabilize the condition and not worsen it further.

Eat plenty of fresh salmon. Salmon has omega-3, which is an essential fatty acid. Fatty acids feed the skin with much needed nutrients helping it maintain its elasticity and health. Regular intake of salmon plumps up the skin, reducing wrinkles and giving it a brighter and youthful radiance.

Invest in a good night cream. Night creams contain ingredients that work on our skin at night replenishing it with much needed nourishment. As the body rests at night these ingredients also help repair the damages done to the skin by external factors like sun and pollution.
