How To Avoid Dry Skin, This Winter
Harsh winds, dry weather and low temperature often make our skin go rough, dry and life less. During winter too much exposure to sun, wind, chemicals, pollution or cosmetics also affects the skin and makes it itchy and scaly.
The skin becomes dry as in the cold weather the oil glands of our skin cannot supply enough lubrication.
Here are some quick ways to drive away the dryness and welcome a young, supple and smooth skin, this winter.
Avoid using too cold or too hot water to wash your skin. Use a soft towel and do not rub your skin strongly. Use a mild, preferably natural cleanser for cleansing. Do not scrub your face frequently, during winter.
Cleanse and moisturize your skin well. Coconut and almond oil are the best natural moisturizers. After a short hot shower, pat your skin dry. Apply moisturizer thoroughly on your entire body. Massage slowly.
Moisturizers help in healing the damages done to the skin, deeply moisturize it and also protect your skin from early signs of ageing. There are some creams rich in virgin coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter which are ideal for dry skin. Aloe Vera also is an excellent soothing moisturizer for dry skin.
Exfoliate your skin, once in a while to get rid of the dead cells. A good exfoliation clears your skin pores, cleans impurities and brings glow to your face.
Take care of your lips during winter. Frequently licking your lips will make it even more chapped and dry. Instead, always keep a good lip balm handy and use it at regular intervals.
Winter is the time when we also tend to have rough hands and feet. You need to moisturize your hands and feet well. There are good hand and foot creams that prevent them from getting dry. Many of us also suffer from cracked heels due to excessive dry conditions. Go for a nice and relaxing pedicure and keep your feet moisturized to avoid these cracks.
Always use a good sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. The harsh sun rays can do a lot of damage to the skin in winter. Drink plenty of water to help your skin remain well hydrated and glowing. Eat balanced diet that includes fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
Always remove your make-up at the end of the day and cleanse your skin properly. Use a good quality night cream to rejuvenate your skin while you sleep.
