Getting Rid of Stretch Marks after Giving Birth
Attaining motherhood is accompanied with nausea, fatigue and backaches. Another likelihood is the development of stretch marks.
Many expectant mothers inquire whether the stretch marks will go after giving birth. This is definitely a tough question to answer as we are aware that stretch marks are actually scars and scars are hard to get rid of.
Usually stretch marks are sunken streaks on the skin which appears reddish or purplish in color in its early stages. Expectant mothers gain weight quickly and their abdomen also distends to accommodate the baby. These induce excessive stretching of the skin. Overstretching interrupts the production of collagen. Crushing of collagen will lead to dilation of blood vessels and this result in red or purple colored early stretch marks. The tissues of the skin are weak and can easily break.
Pregnant women are very much bothered by stretch marks. There are two things they are mostly worried during pregnancy. One is the baby and the other is the stretch marks that appear on the abdomen due to overstretching of the skin. This occurs when the baby starts growing bigger at the later stage of pregnancy. Scars on thighs, buttocks hips, and also breasts also appear on some women. And the ultimate answer whether scars can go away or not is that, yes they can go away after giving birth.
There are various ways to remove scars and these range from major surgery to microdermabrasion. Laser treatment is also an effective method of removing pregnancy stretch marks. The best part of this treatment is that it involves minimum pain. Besides these we have seen and heard of tall claims of creams and lotions and in these too only few are effective.
As a precautionary measure to avoid scars the expectant mothers should maintain a balance diet so that the weight doesn’t exceed the recommended range. And also the expectant mother should drink lots of water. Proper intake of vitamins also helps in preventing stretch marks.
Stretch marks are usually a cosmetic problem, but it is always good to get rid of them because in certain cases there are high chances that they may ulcerate and shred easily in an accident. Stretch marks never disappear totally. As mentioned earlier these scars start out as reddish or purplish but they change their color to silver or white as they fade.
