Exfoliate To Remove Acne Scars
So your acne’s gone but you are still not happy with the way your skin looks; so discoloured and unhealthy. This discoloration is a result of the scars that the acne has left behind. In many cases simply treating acne is not the solution to getting a clear and beautiful skin. Along with acne treatment should be provided for the acne scars as well.
By following a simple scrubbing routine on your skin you can easily get rid of the acne scars. Exfoliation helps remove the uppermost layer of the skin which with time becomes dull and starts attracting dirt and grime. This is also the scarred layer.
Start your exfoliation regime only if the scar is healed. You will know this if you carefully examine the area. If the skin is discoloured or if the acne has left a slight bump on the skin then it is safe to begin the exfoliation. However, if the indentation is still open then allow it time to heal and repair.
Scrub before going to bed at night. This way you can get rid of the dirt that your skin has accumulated throughout the day. First clean your face of any makeup and then wash using a gentle oil-free cleanser. Take a dollop of mild scrub in your palm and start massaging the face with the scrub. Use gentle circular motions concentrating on the scarred area.
Scrub the area for two minutes. If the scars are on other parts of your body other than the face then use a loofah for scrubbing. For your face you can even use a clean soft cloth instead of fingers.
Every night before retiring to bed rub two to three drops of Vitamin E oil on the scars. If Vitamin E oil is not available you can pop open Vitamin E capsules and use the oil. Rubbing Vitamin E oil on the scars everyday will help them fade faster and also keep the skin hydrate throughout.
Many anti acne creams like benzoyl peroxide and Retin A are very helpful in getting rid of the scars as well. These creams contain salicylic acid which is an exfoliator. Application of these creams on the scarred areas will exfoliate bringing fresh and new skin to the surface. This skin will be initially red in color but the redness will soon disappear revealing scar free skin.
