Essential Massage Oils Dryness of skin is something which we generally face throughout the year due to absence of correct nourishment of the skin. The dryness of skin makes your skin look patchy and rough; even you do not feel like touching this rough and dry skin.

Dryness of skin mainly occurs during winters , but some people have to counter this problem the year round , because the skin in these people stops secreting natural oils which make our skin look dry and stretched like a membrane or cellophane.

There is dire need of moisturising such type of skin externally, if done so the skin will return back to its original smooth and soft form. After using different types of moisturisers, skin creams or extra nourishing creams we do not get the desired results. Some of the creams being high in chemical contents worsen the situation and make the skin flakier and there is risk of developing serious skin diseases like eczema or psoriasis etc.

There are some natural ways like Massaging your skin with essential oils to keep it nourished and soft whole year round. If you do not have that much time to massage your body everyday then after taking bath you can apply some oil on slightly damp body. Do not rub your skin dry before applying the essential oils; this will certainly help you in reducing the skin dryness.

There are many types of oils available in the market or you can create a nice combination on your own too, but it is important to find out which type of oil is useful for which skin type and should be used in which season. Here are few types of oil which you can use to counter the skin dryness and make your skin soft and smooth.

Before choosing oil you need to decide that which aroma and what type of oil do you like, this is very important as you might be allergic to some oil or smell. However most of the times these oils will give you benefits only being totally natural. Here are a few essential oils or normal oils listed and you can choose the one which suits you and keep your skin beautiful from inside too by massaging them regularly.

Mineral OIL:

These oils are just like baby oils not too harsh on our skin. They are mainly made of Petroleum Jelly or Liquid Paraffin , which if you use just after bathing for massaging will make your skin as soft and delicate as baby skin.

Coconut Oil:

This is one such oil which is has dual benefits like it boosts hair growth on scalp and is good for skin too. Coconut oil saves our skin from tanning and exposure to UV rays is also blocked. It is rich in Lauric Acid which is full of fatty acids which help in fighting many diseases. This quality of lauric acid is found in just the tropical oils. Thus coconut oil is very beneficial for dry skin.

Almond Oil:

Almond oil is therapeutic also in nature and the best part of this oil is this that it can be used throughout the year in each and every season. Almond oil not only nourishes our skin but also cures from skin problems like ECZEMA. It is quite rich in Vitamin A, B1, B2 and B6 and small amounts of Vitamin C too.

Mustard Oil:

Mustard oil or Sarson ka tel is very beneficial for people who suffer from cold and cough quite often. Mustard oil being warm in nature helps in curing and giving warmth to the body of people who get cold and cough easily. The right way to use mustard oil is to first boil it on flame once and then use it after cooling for massaging. Mustard oils is good for baby massage too during winters, just add few cloves of garlic while boiling it.

Cool the oil and then use it to massage your baby. It will be best to save your baby from cold and cough during winters. You can also mix mustard oil with Til oil for massage and while mixing remembers to add more of Til oil and less amount of mustard oil. This combination oil is very good for dry skin. Since Til oil has very strong aroma so you might not like the aroma and it is stickier too, so you can wipe it off after four hours with a damp towel. But the benefits of this combination oil are very nice for dry and patchy skin.

Olive Oil:

Olive oil is a bit expensive oil but it has some elements which help our skin to start natural body oil secretion. It has Lecithin and is rich in Vitamin E. Olive oil is supposed to be good for infant massage too. It helps in making the baby’s skin soft and massaging with olive oil helps in strengthening the muscles of the body. Olive oil makes the baby’s limbs strong. If there is burning sensation in your skin and your hands and legs are getting dry then olive oil is best oil to be used to nourish your skin and reduce the burning sensation.

Jojoba Oil:

These days a lot of creams and body lotions boast of jojoba oil content in them, so why not use it in pure and original form to pamper your skin. Jojoba oil is as beneficial as Olive oil. It is also called LIQUID WAX. Jojoba oil is very effective in treating Psoriasis and Acnes in our skin.

Groundnut Oil:

It is also beneficial in reducing a lot of body pains if massaged regularly.

Some Home Remedies For Dry Skin

The best part of these oils is that they are not only effective in nourishing our skin but also give strength to our body also. If you do not want to massage them every day you can just mix one table spoon of almond oil or olive oil in your bathing water. Bathing with this water will be enough to nourish and keep your skin smooth and healthy.

Mix one cup of Rose water with one fourth cup of glycerine and use daily one your skin. This will give your skin natural moisture and it will never get dry. You can also add one lime juice too for added nourishment. This is very helpful in treating the dryness of elbows and knees. You can also add one teaspoon sugar and some sunflower oil to the above mixture and rub on damp skin. This will act a real good scrub to exfoliate and nourish your skin.
